Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about filling or using your CO2 cylinder? Check out our FAQ for answers to frequently asked questions.

Are Indigo Soda CO2 bottles compatible with all water carbonation devices sold in stores?

Yes, CO2 cylinders are compatible with all water carbonation systems, including SodaStream™, Aarke, Drinkmate, Ninja Thirsti, and others. Indigo Soda is the local alternative.

Note that some electric appliances, as well as the SodaStream Mix, may require a higher carbonation level. Due to slight variations in spring stiffness between models, some appliances may require a higher setting or you may need to press the button a little more firmly.

Rest assured, this simply serves to properly activate the internal mechanism. It does not result in any gas loss or overconsumption.

My gas cylinder turned out to be empty before I even used it for the first time. What happened?

Indigo Soda CO2 bottles are weighed in our filling units to ensure they contain the correct amount of CO2 at the time of packaging.

Unfortunately, sometimes a bottle can be defective. This rare occurrence results in a slow loss of CO₂ during storage or transport. In case of a defect, please return to your exchange point for an exchange.

What should be done in case of a "breakdown" of the CO2 cylinder, resulting in an accelerated discharge of the CO2 it contains?

This is a phenomenon that can be observed when the main valve of the cylinder is faulty. At that point, the backup valve is triggered and causes the complete discharge of CO₂.

The noise and the frost that appear on the cylinder may be surprising, but don't worry. Return the defective can to your exchange point.

How to store CO2 bottles?

CO₂ cylinders must be stored away from direct sunlight and kept at a temperature below 50°C.

My drink has little or no carbonation. What's happening to my CO₂ canister?

Check if the CO2 tank is empty. If so, use a new canister.

Check that the CO2 tank is correctly installed in the receptacle. If necessary, tighten it by hand.

The canister may be too cold. Wait until it reaches room temperature.

The drink may be too hot. Use a cooler liquid; the colder the better.

The CO2 may not mix well with the drink. Shake the bottle and wait ten seconds for the CO2 to finish mixing with the liquid.

Try pressing the trigger or carbonation button on your water carbonation device for longer to release more CO₂.

How can I tell if my CO2 bottle is empty?

Ensure the CO2 tank is correctly installed in the receptacle. If necessary, tighten it by hand.

If you are not getting enough bubbles and you do not hear a spraying sound when you press the trigger or carbonation button on your carbonation device, you may have run out of CO2 in your cylinder.

Purchase a full CO2 cylinder at your local exchange point.

Small pieces of ice appear in my water after carbonation. Is this normal?

Don't worry, this is perfectly normal and safe. The ice will simply melt, making your drink even colder and more refreshing!

You can simply reduce the duration of each press on the trigger or carbonation button of your carbonation device until ice stops appearing.

How often do I need to refill my CO2 bottle?

There is no universal answer to this question! Although our 60-litre cylinders produce on average up to 60 litres of sparkling water, the frequency with which you need to refill your CO2 cylinder depends on the level of carbonation you use.

If you are changing your CO2 canister more often than you would like, try reducing the number of times you press the carbonation button on your device and the duration of each press.

Is my Indigo Soda CO₂ bottle compatible with my SodaStream™, Aarke, Drink Mate or other type water carbonation device?

Yes. If your machine uses a screw-on system (TR21-4 valve), our purple "Twist" type cylinders are perfectly compatible.

For newer models equipped with the Quick Connect system (also called Pink System by SodaStream™), you must use the turquoise Indigo Soda Easy Connect cylinder, specially designed for these devices.

Note that some electrical appliances, as well as the SodaStream Mix, may require selecting a higher level of carbonation.

Is it safe to have CO₂ Indigo Soda bottles in my house?

Indigo Soda CO₂ bottles are completely safe to have in your home. They are manufactured to strict safety specifications to protect our consumers.

Our CO2 cylinders are specially equipped with a relief valve designed to safely release CO2 in the unlikely event that the pressure in the cylinder exceeds the indicated thresholds.

Always store your CO2 cylinder in a cool, dry environment. Keep it out of direct sunlight. The cylinder should not be exposed to heat sources (e.g., a prolonged journey in the trunk of a car) or placed near a heat source (e.g., oven, stove, or fireplace).

Is my CO2 bottle expiring?

The CO₂ in the bottle does not expire, but the bottles are inspected and certified for quality assurance purposes.

How can I dispose of a CO2 cylinder that I no longer use?

If you wish to dispose of a CO2 cylinder, simply bring it to one of our exchange points without exchanging it for a full one. You are entitled to a $1 return fee per cylinder.

What is the difference between the purple cylinder and the turquoise cylinder of Indigo Soda?

The purple cylinder is intended for classic "twist" system machines, compatible with brands such as SodaStream™ (screw-on models), Aarke, Drinkmate and Ninja Thirsti.

The turquoise Easy Connect cylinder is designed for SodaStream Quick Connect machines (Pink System), which clip on rather than screw on. The SodaStream Mix is not compatible.

Note that some electrical appliances may require selecting a higher level of carbonation.

What should I do if I still have the Connect-Indigo adapter for my sparkling water maker?

We now offer Easy Connect cylinders, compatible with machines using the Quick Connect system. If you still have the Connect-Indigo adapter and wish to continue using it, you can consult this page for more information.

Can reusable bottles be put in the refrigerator?

Yes, and it's even recommended! Keeping your bottle chilled will give you even more sparkling bubbles.
