How do you exchange your cylinder in store?
CO₂ refills in the Indigo network work through an exchange program: you return an empty cylinder and leave with a different, full cylinder. You do not need to wait for your own cylinder to be refilled on site.
- Find a participating store. Choose a convenient location near your home, workplace or along your grocery shopping route.
- Bring your empty cylinder. Let the staff know which cylinder type your machine uses.
- Pay for the exchange and collect a full cylinder. Check that it matches your machine’s connection system before leaving.
To learn how the program works, visit our CO₂ cylinder refill and exchange page.
Which cylinder should you choose for your machine?
The right choice depends on your machine’s connection system, not just its brand. Indigo Soda offers two cylinder types:
| Indigo cylinder | Connection | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|
| Classic Twist, purple | Screw-in | A compatible machine that uses a screw-in cylinder, including the Indigo Soda sparkling water maker |
| Easy Connect, turquoise | Quick Connect, no screwing required | A compatible machine that uses the Quick Connect system, also known as the Pink System |
For example, two SodaStream machines may require different cylinders depending on their model. Check your machine’s instructions or read our guide to choosing the right CO₂ cylinder for your sparkling water maker.
Cylinder types and stock levels may vary from one retailer to another. Confirm that your preferred cylinder is available before visiting.
How much does a CO₂ cylinder exchange cost in Toronto?
In the Indigo Soda network, exchanging an empty cylinder for a full one is available starting at CAD $12.50 plus tax. The exact price depends on the retailer: this starting price is not necessarily the price charged by every store in Toronto.
When comparing options, ask specifically for the exchange price when returning an empty cylinder. Buying your first cylinder, when you do not have an empty one to return, is a different transaction.
You can explore both types in our CO₂ cylinder collection.
Can you exchange a cylinder from another brand?
Yes. The Indigo exchange program accepts empty sparkling water CO₂ cylinders from other brands, including SodaStream. You can switch to Indigo at your next exchange by choosing the cylinder type that fits your machine.
An exchange means returning an empty cylinder to receive a full one. Returning a cylinder without buying a refill is subject to different terms.
